Blue Spirulina gives this delicious and healthy Blue Milk its beautiful blue color. With just 5 ingredients Skinny 5's Best Blue Milk Recipe is quick and easy to make.
In a medium saucepan, bring 4-1/2 cups filtered or spring water to a boil.
Add cashew nut pieces or slivered almonds to pan. Remove from heat.
Remove pit from medjool date and add to pan. Cut about a one inch piece of vanilla bean. Split vanilla bean in half and add to pan.
Cover pan with a tight fitting lid. Let stand for about 4 hours or refrigerate overnight once liquid cools to room temperature.
Add contents of pan to a blender. Add blue spirulina. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.
Divide into four 8-ounce glass bottles or jars with tight fitting lids. Store Blue Milk in refrigerator and consume within 4 days.
NOTE - using soft cashews or slivered almonds eliminates the need to strain nut milk through a nut bag. However, you may add this step for creamier nut milk. Or blend nut milk mixture without adding blue spirulina. Strain nut milk through a fine mesh sieve and then add blue spirulina.
