Instructions
- In a food processor or blender, mix a large handful of a variety of washed and dried, fresh herbs with salt and dried herbs and spices until ground down into the salt.
- Note - if fresh herbs have woody stem, remove leaves and discard stems before adding.
- Spread in a single layer on a parchment lined cookie sheet and set aside until dried.
- To speed dry - place in oven set to warm. Keep temperature below 108ºF to preserve color.
- Store unused herbed salt mixes in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid.
Recipe Notes
Try some of the following combinations of herbed spice mixes:
- Culinary lavender, scraped vanilla bean pod, fresh mint
- Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
- Basil and pressed or minced garlic
- Mint, lemon balm and lemon zest
- Fennel seeds and orange zest
- Marjoram and Italian or flat-leaf parsley
- Italian or flat-leaf parsley and crushed red pepper flakes
- Italian or flat-leaf parsley, oregano, basil, rosemary, and fennel seeds
